The reviews are in! We are thrilled to have VMware Horizon Cloud recognized by SoftwareReviews, a division of Info-Tech Research Group, as a Gold Medalist and Leader in the 2022 Desktop-as-a-Service Data Quadrant. The recognition is based on a composite score from 143 end-user reviews for DaaS software. End-users evaluated, and continue to evaluate, four different areas, including Net Emotional Footprint, Vendor Capabilities, Product Features, and Likeliness to Recommend. Download the report here.
As organizations adapt to remote and hybrid work environments, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) are technologies that IT often use to provide employees access to corporate resources. Unlike customer-managed VDI deployments, DaaS allows for more layers of the infrastructure stack, hosted in a public cloud, to be managed by the DaaS vendor. In the case of Horizon Cloud, VMware manages the hardware layer, virtualization layer, and Horizon infrastructure layer, which consist of components such as connection servers and databases. Customers are only responsible for deployment and maintenance of desktops and apps.
According to reviews from the SoftwareReviews 2022 DaaS Data Quadrant, Horizon Cloud ranked as a Leader based on several criteria, including the highest ranking for:
- Business value created – the satisfaction level associated with the business value realized from the DaaS software
- Secure connectivity – the secure connectivity between the DaaS provider, the client interface, and the DaaS provider’s facility
- Device support – easily delivering desktops and apps to end users using HTML clients
- Ease of administration – making administration easy through admin interfaces to help IT configure DaaS software and resolve issues
These aren’t the only reasons customers like Agero, Ficohsa Group, and AEON Credit Service are leveraging Horizon Cloud to deliver DaaS to their employees. With hybrid and multi-cloud VDI and DaaS options, customers have choice to host their desktops and apps on premises or use cloud capacity from Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud, while managing all their Horizon deployments with the Horizon Control Plane. By partnering with Microsoft and Amazon, Horizon Cloud extends the functionality of Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and Amazon WorkSpaces, giving customers the ability to deploy desktops and apps on premises or in the public cloud.
“By moving to VMware Horizon Cloud Service on Microsoft Azure and giving a very consistent experience to our agents, we’ve freed up our engineers.”
— Billy Macdonald, Senior Director of DevOps, Agero
We’re continuously thinking about ways to innovate with DaaS and to that end, we recently made our Horizon Cloud next-gen platform generally available. The Horizon Cloud next-gen platform is based on a thin-edge architecture, which reduces the Horizon infrastructure components required for customers to account for with cloud subscriptions. We are able to reduce infrastructure costs for customers by moving components, like Unified Access Gateways and databases, to our VMware-managed Horizon Control Plane.
Based on the reviews in the DaaS Data Quadrant report, 87% of users are likely to recommend Horizon Cloud, which is great validation coming straight from IT professionals.
