We’re thrilled to announce that for the FOURTH year in a row VMware has been named a LEADER in the 2021 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) Tools. VMware also scored HIGHEST in three out of four use cases in the 2021 Gartner® Critical Capabilities for UEM Tools.
In this year’s Magic Quadrant™, Gartner® recognized VMware as a Leader for overall ability to execute and completeness of vision, positioned furthest to the right for completeness of vision. In Gartner®’s corresponding Critical Capabilities report, VMware received the highest scores for the Security-Centric Management (4.22/5.0), Modern Windows PC (3.64/5.0) and Remote Worker (4.06/5.0) Use Cases and second highest score for the Nonstandard PC (3.25/5.0) Use Case.
Helping Customers Become Anywhere Organizations with Workspace ONE UEM
The recent health emergency amplified the urgency for all organizations to become more agile and resilient. In response, VMware has been helping businesses across all industries rapidly embrace remote work, redefine their digital strategy and accelerate transformation efforts. Our customers are at the forefront of mobilizing an ‘anywhere’ workforce spanning a diverse ecosystem, across geographies and use cases. By leveraging VMware Workspace ONE UEM, organizations can quickly embrace remote work and BYO, adopt modern desktop management for Windows 10 PCs, support increased endpoint diversity—including non-standard desktops running macOS, Chrome OS and Linux—and enforce a security-centric UEM strategy to protect against the rapid recent increase in vulnerabilities and cyberattacks due to perimeter-less work environments.
We think the strength of our product is not only reflected by VMware’s positioning in this year’s Magic Quadrant™ and Critical Capabilities for UEM Tools but also why we were named a 2021 Gartner® Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for UEM earlier this year.
Named a Leader in 2021 Magic Quadrant™ for UEM Tools
According to Gartner®, “By 2024, more than half of organizations will consolidate to a unified console for endpoint management and security tasks, which represents a significant increase from fewer than 5% in 2020.”
We believe Gartner® recognized VMware as a Leader in this Magic Quadrant™ because of our Workspace ONE product, which enables customers to drive IT modernization, implement a zero trust security model, and empower today’s anywhere workforce.
Positioned Highest in 3 out of 4 Use Cases in 2021 Critical Capabilities for UEM Tools
Gartner® Critical Capabilities enhances the Magic Quadrant™ with deeper insight into vendors’ product and service offerings by providing product ratings of key capabilities in critical differentiating usage scenarios. In this year’s report, Gartner® presented four use cases that represent common issues infrastructure and operations leaders are solving with UEM tools: Security-Centric Management, Modern Windows PC, Nonstandard PC and Remote Worker. The research looked at 14 critical capabilities to determine the overall score for each use case. VMware received the highest scores for the Security-Centric Management (4.22/5.0), Modern Windows PC (3.64/5.0) and Remote Worker (4.06/5.0) Use Cases and second highest score for the Nonstandard PC (3.25/5.0) Use Case.
The following use case descriptions were defined by Gartner® and pulled directly from this year’s Critical Capabilities report.
Remote Worker Use Case
“This use case focuses on the ability to provision, deploy, manage, support and decommission devices that are not directly connected to the company’s network. Critical capabilities to this use case include automated device enrollment, Windows 10 management, application management, endpoint analytics, remote access, remote support and zero trust.”
Security-Centric Management Use Case
“This use case focuses on creating dynamic device policies for device configuration, compliance and data security. Critical capabilities to this use case include the ability to offer dynamic enforcement of policies based on user, device and task context, inclusion of endpoint security capabilities in the UEM offering, and interaction with third-party security tools (MTD, EPP and EDR).”
Modern Windows PC Use Case
“This use case focuses on the management of Windows 10. Critical capabilities to this use case include application management, CMT features, endpoint analytics, automated device enrollment and Windows 10 management.”
Nonstandard PC Use Case
“This use case focuses on agentless or agent-based management of non-Windows devices. Critical capabilities to this use case include application management, CMT features, Linux management, macOS management and Chrome OS management.”
