There are key times in the evolution of technology when features and products bring the best out in each other. Lately, we’ve been seeing that a lot in our collaboration with Microsoft. Horizon Cloud on Microsoft Azure has seamlessly incorporated the features of Windows Virtual Desktop, bringing all the value of VMware Horizon to the exciting new features of Windows Virtual Desktop, like Windows 10 Enterprise multi-session. Similarly, on Microsoft Azure, VMware Dynamic Environment Manager and Microsoft FSLogix Profile Containers work together to roam profile and user data, combined with the best user environment management capabilities.
This trend is continuing, and with the recent release of Windows 10, version 2004 a new feature called “app attach” has been added to allow MSIX application packages to be delivered via virtual disk in their expanded form. VMware has been working with Microsoft to bring the MSIX format to App Volumes 4 so that App Volumes can easily deliver this new format to your end users from the same interface. You can read more about this in Microsoft’s MSIX app attach update.
App Volumes 4 is a new version of App Volumes that enables administrators with advanced application lifecycle management capabilities. App Volumes is a portfolio of industry-leading application and user management solutions for Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, and RDSH virtual environments. App Volumes can help to reduce IT costs by providing tools to deliver a diverse set of applications to a large number of users in real time. Learn more about App Volumes.
We are excited to continually bring innovation and new capabilities to help manage your app portfolio, both on-premises and in the cloud, and we see MSIX app attach as one more way to help in your overall application management strategy.
