One of the main challenges to the end-user experience is finding ways to access required tools and software, especially if a cost is associated. The traditional process required creating a helpdesk ticket, moving through an approval process with either a manager or IT, and then gaining access to the installer. In some cases, enterprises provide access to paid software to everyone by default, regardless of if the user launches the software day-to-day. In order to save costs, improve the experience for the end-user and streamline IT’s deployment process, VMware Workspace ONE is announcing general availability for Windows 10 App Approvals with ServiceNow Integration.
With the introduction of Windows 10 App Approvals, IT can entitle users to request software directly from the Intelligent Hub catalog. This request will be sent to ServiceNow, using the Workspace ONE Intelligence platform and will follow existing policies regarding approvers and cost centers that are configured in the ServiceNow instance. Once approved, the software installation process will be completed automatically using the built-in app deployment capabilities of Workspace ONE Intelligence.
Because this feature is integrated with ServiceNow, you can be sure that all requests are documented in a central system and follow all company purchasing policies. The level of configurability within ServiceNow allows for customization for virtually any use-case based on the requesting user, device, group, application, and more.
Let’s show you Windows 10 App Approvals in action. In this demo, we’ll walk you through how to assign an application that requires approval, the experience the user will see when requesting an app, and how approving the request in ServiceNow automatically triggers an installation to occur on the user’s device.
Simplifying the user experience and automating tasks for IT is a core tenet of Workspace ONE. By streamlining the request and approval process for Windows 10 apps, IT can save money and time while empowering users to do their best work.
