How to use Workspace ONE Notifications and Mobile Flows in Intelligent Hub to Drive Corporate Communications

Our customers are challenged to effectively communicate with their employees. Today, employees may see emails come in from the business, but it can get lost among all of the other conversations going on at once. If you really have something important to communicate, email isn’t always the answer. That doesn’t even consider the changing dynamic of work to support more and more of the “gig economy” or employees who may not have email accounts to connect them with their organization.

This is an important challenge to solve because we are seeing that a huge part of employee experience is engagement. Thoughtful and useful communication from their company is key to ensuring that employees are engaged, which leads to higher productivity and job satisfaction. 85% of employees are actively disengaged at work (Gallup State of Workplace study).

Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub and Notifications can help to address this engagement challenge in your business. Intelligent Hub is the digital workspace app for employees. No matter if it is a corporate, personal, or shared device, employees can take advantage of the same app and experience across mobile, desktop and web. To learn more about Intelligent Hub, visit https://www.air-watch.com/capabilities/intelligent-hub.

The Notification service can be added to the Intelligent Hub experience and is available for all customers using Workspace ONE UEM and Hub Services. Organizations can take advantage of out-of-the-box notifications for alerting employees to new apps, build custom alerts and notifications, and even integrate those notifications with third party business systems using the Mobile Flows extensibility framework. Notifications support the OS level push notification service, so you can alert users even if they aren’t in the Intelligent Hub app at the time.

This is even easier now for IT admins and business partners with the Workspace ONE Notification Builder. Managers can work with IT administrators to create, preview and monitor notifications sent to employees via Intelligent Hub. Notifications can include custom text, actions, and priorities that can be targeted to all employees or specific groups of devices and users. Notifications can be used for corporate communications such as reminders of compliance training, company all-hands meetings, and system outage alerts. Check out this video demonstrating how easy it is to use the Notification builder within the Hub Services console.

Notifying employees with simple open-in actions solves a lot of use cases, but you can also enrich notifications by deploying Mobile Flows. Notifications can also be used in combination with Mobile Flows that give employees in-the-moment information that allows them to complete tasks and take actions across business systems without having to launch the apps. Integrating notifications with third party business application, ITSM, and HRIS systems allows you to pull in additional notification context and provide more complex actions (add free text comments, change status of a ticket on the backend system, etc.). By using VMware’s pre-built connectors with popular apps including Salesforce, Concur, Coupa, and ServiceNOW, employees can easily arrange travel, submit expense reports, approve sales quotes and track the status of their trouble ticket.

Workspace ONE Mobile Flows is available for customers with Workspace ONE UEM and Workspace ONE Access to deploy. In the Mobile Flows section of the UEM console, easily choose from the marketplace of application integrations and deploy with a single click. For more custom or on-premises application integrations, visit VMware’s GitHub site to customize a pre-built connector or build your own using our sample connector and API specifications.
