“Digital transformation is all about creating new possibilities for your business. Companies are using digital technology to drive nimble innovation, find better ways of working, adopt inventive business models, and deliver engaging new customer experiences.” [1]
Organizations of all sizes are undergoing a digital transformation. Business mobility, a business-driven initiative directly linked to the goals for process change and innovation, is one of the key forces behind digital transformations. Empowering employees with digital workspaces helps build a foundation for business mobility, ultimately transforming application delivery and management for IT.
To help drive digital transformation, VMware has been laser-focused on delivering a digital workspace platform for our customers with VMware Workspace ONE, powered by AirWatch unified endpoint management technology. This gives IT a simple and secure way to deliver and manage any app on any device by integrating access control, application management, and multi-platform endpoint management. We recently announced innovations in the Workspace ONE platform with the release of Workspace ONE Intelligence, which provides customers with integrated insights, app analytics, and automation across the digital workspace.
As organizations continue to move toward digital transformation, the digital workspace ecosystem of users, apps, endpoints, and networks continues to grow and evolve beyond the traditional perimeter with common trends such as adoption of BYOD and the consumerization of IT. And as the traditional perimeter dissolves, organizations are seeing more advanced cyber threats such as zero-day attacks, Man-in-the-Middle (MiTM) attacks, phishing, bots, and ransomware start to emerge. Existing security tools give IT only limited visibility, focusing only on silos of security that provide legacy functionality. This results in a high-cost approach due to complexity and requirement of manual tasks to secure a digital workspace.
To help reduce complexity and satisfy security needs in the digital workspace, we recently announced our Workspace ONE Trust Network approach. Workspace ONE Trust Network gives organizations a comprehensive and modern enterprise security approach to secure their evolving digital workspace.
Using the Workspace ONE Trust Network approach, organizations can transform security across their employees, apps, endpoints, and networks with a new set of capabilities to protect, detect and remediate cybersecurity threats based on a framework of trust and verification. When trust is established across a digital workspace, the result is an interconnected, least-privilege system that empowers employees by having security follow them. To manage risks related to modern-day cyber threats, Workspace ONE Trust Network combines insights from the Intelligence-driven Workspace ONE platform with trusted security partner solutions to deliver predictive and automated security in the digital workspace.
Workspace ONE Trust Network provides several security capabilities for the digital workspace, including:
- Access management that empowers IT to deliver application provisioning, a self-service app catalog, multi-factor authentication and single sign-on (SSO) for all apps.
- Control authentication with conditional access policies based on device compliance state, user authentication strength, data sensitivity, user location and more.
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies to enable device-level encryption, data encryption, hardware security policies, app blacklisting, device pairing, Wi-Fi security and TLS enforcement.
- AES 256-bit encryption for data-at-rest and data-in-transit using VMware Tunnel.
Learn how to overcome the largest barrier to a modern digital workspace strategy and how Workspace ONE Trust Network can help.
In addition, Workspace ONE Trust Network gives IT the ability to simplify security and management with a framework that leverages APIs to allow an open security ecosystem to communicate with Workspace ONE. To make this possible, we initially partnered with Symantec, McAfee, Carbon Black, CrowdStrike, Cylance, Lookout and Netskope to connect their security solutions with Workspace ONE as part of the Workspace ONE Trust Network approach. By establishing trust across Workspace ONE with API integrations from each of these partners, Workspace ONE Trust Network covers even more security use cases, such as monitoring for malware threats across mobile and desktop devices or cloud apps, monitoring for malicious apps, in-memory attacks or jailbroken devices. Automatic remediation lowers complexity with automated actions such as remote lock, device wipe, blocking access or customizable device quarantine controls.
