Nearly 10 years ago, VMware launched products that provided data and analytics into the performance of the datacenter. This was productized as vCenter Operations Manager (which was renamed to vRealize Operations last year), and proved to be huge success for both VMware customers and VMware alike. Armed with the right information at the right time, our customers were (and still are!) able to minimize downtime and maximize utilization with out-of-the-box dashboards and powerful analytics.
Four years ago, we had the idea to take that IP and add metrics that were specific to desktop, resulting in a state of the art analytics platform for the desktop environment that provides data and monitoring for the entire stack, from hypervisor—to app—to end user. Since then, we have continued to innovate and been committed to streamlining and enhancing data consumption and increasing the scope to include Citrix desktop and published application environments. In June of this year, we released vRealize Operations for Published Applications.
Today, I’m pleased to announce vRealize Operations for Published Applications 6.2, which includes support for the latest release of Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop 7.6. I’m also excited to share the official general availability of vRealize Operations for Horizon 6.2, which includes vRealize Operations for Published Applications 6.2.
With vRealize Operations for Published Apps 6.2, we aim to make monitoring your desktop environment more comprehensive and even easier. Let’s take a look at some of the new features we’ve included.
Support for Citrix XenApp/ XenDesktop 7.6
vRealize Operations for Published Applications and vRealize Operations for Horizon provides a single pane of glass to monitor the entire stack. The extensibility of the platform to the datacenter creates a common set of data and metrics across the entire environment which streamlines analysis and communication between administrators. Our latest release now ensures that Citrix customers can seamlessly monitor their vSphere infrastructure alongside their XenApp and XenDesktop 7.6 deployments.
User-centric Dashboards and Metrics
New user-experience dashboards make it easy to quickly pinpoint users and their respective sessions, and identify trouble spots (see screenshot below). Widgets monitor important metrics impacting user experience, such as usage of vCPU, memory, and disk, and provide reports on used and remaining capacity. PCoIP data such as latency and bandwidth reports are also available.
Application and desktop usage reports are available and can be filtered by user and time frame defined by the administrator.
More Session Metrics with Windows 10 Support
New metrics are now available including log-on time, the duration of a session, Operating System type, version of the installed agent, the number/maximum number of session instances and Windows 10 in-guest metrics.
