I am very excited to announce the release of our latest VMware Horizon Client for iOS that now supports iOS 8 and the latest iPhones!
Apple reportedly sold around 10 million iPhones the first weekend after launch and those users should know that if their company had VMware Horizon View, they’d be able to access their corporate workspace (desktops and applications) right from their brand new phone as well as their personal content — offering a unified device with streamlined access to content. Why is this important?
We’re more mobile than ever before and the workplace has fundamentally changed with telecommuting, flex schedules and BYOD becoming the norm. As part of this trend, users want to be able to access their applications, data and desktops on the go wherever they are. Simply having access when you’re in the office or headquarters just doesn’t cut it anymore in most industries. To remain competitive in recruiting and retaining talent, and helping employees remain productive, supporting mobile work is no longer a nice to have but a need to have.
So for IT administrators planning to adopt virtual desktops or are existing VMware Horizon customers, they should know that the VMware Horizon Client supports all the latest versions of mobile operating systems including iOS 8. Most importantly, they should know that when they go with VMware Horizon, they’re using the industry leading virtual desktop solution.
Checkout the list below that highlights what’s new in the latest VMware Horizon Client for iOS. It’s available today in the Apple App Store!
- Now Supports the IPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus – You can now connect to your VMware Horizon apps or desktop from the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. The VMware Horizon iOS client gives you immediate access to your Horizon apps or desktop any time, anywhere. Need to check a meeting location or a sales report and don’t have your laptop? No problem, just pull out your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and easily connect to VMware Horizon to access the apps you need.
- Ready for iOS 8 – The new VMware Horizon client works great on iOS 8 and it supported on both iPhone and iPad.
- Up to 50% Better Battery Life Than 3.0 – We know battery life is important and VMware has optimized the latest VMware Horizon iOS client to use less battery than ever before to support longer desktop and app sessions.
As many of you have seen, the VMware End-User Computing group has been innovating at a rapid pace in the last year and we’re not letting our foot off the gas pedal. We have a lot more exciting news to come that we’ll be sharing at VMworld Europe 2014 so stay tuned to our news on Tuesday, Oct. 14 when the conference starts.
