VMware made some exciting announcements at VMworld U.S. two weeks ago that showed our commitment to offering customers the most innovative solutions on the market for their journey to the mobile-cloud. However, we know that in order to offer the best solutions, we need the best team that understands both customer needs and technology trends.
Today, I’m proud to announce two new additions to the VMware End-User Computing team.
Mark Margevicius, former VP and research director at Gartner, joins EUC to head up enterprise customer strategy to support VMware’s continued development of world-class end-user computing solutions that meet the needs of our most demanding enterprise customers. Shawn Bass, a well-known and respected industry expert on desktop virtualization, joins to head up desktop strategy and planning, and will oversee the growth of VMware desktop products.
About Mark Margevicius
No stranger to the industry, Mark joins us after spending 15 years at Gartner where he most recently served as vice president and research director, covering end-user computing with a primary focus on desktop virtualization, hosted virtual desktops, PC hardware, and server-based computing. During this time, he assisted clients in the selection of solutions appropriate for their needs and best practices for client-side policies and procedures. Prior to Gartner, Mark spent 9 years at KeyBank, a regional bank in Ohio where he was vice president overseeing infrastructure operations and desktop support.
In his new role, Mark will help our customers advance their EUC strategy and vision. With an expertise in client computing architectures that include PCs, mobile devices, server-based computing, virtualization and supporting infrastructures, Mark will play an integral role in helping VMware customers transition their end-user computing environments to the mobile-cloud.
About Shawn Bass
Shawn is a recognized expert in the desktop virtualization industry. With more than 20 years of consulting experience, he has worked with terminal services, application virtualization and VDI since the very beginning of these technologies. During his career, he provided consulting services to a wide variety of vertical markets including financial services, insurance, high tech, ISVs, health care, higher education, oil/gas, and state and federal governments.
In his new role, Shawn will help lead and define a long-term strategy for VMware desktop products and work closely with the product team in implementing the strategy in the years to come.
Mark and Shawn will join a great team of executives already in place that includes Harry Labana who recently joined us from CloudVolumes and is heading up the CloudVolumes team at VMware. Altogether, this represents a dream team with deep insight into end-user computing and desktop technologies. Collectively, we remain focused on delivering the best solutions to transition the PC-centric end-user computing architectures to the mobile-cloud. I am honored and proud to be working with this team of executives.
Please join me in welcoming Mark and Shawn to the VMware team!
