This is my second week at VMware, and I for one am very excited about the future of the company. This is a company that has had a huge emphasis placed on INNOVATION. Engineers are proud of the great products they have pioneered that have practically made VMware a household name in the data center and the go to market team is proud of the success they’ve created with customers and the channel.
The recent recognition of VMware as the third most innovative company in the world by Forbes in their 2013 ranking of top 100 firms is a testament to the fact that VMware is not only the company that made industry history with its virtualization technology 15 years ago, but it’s also the company that is continuing to lead the industry with its vision and innovation, as the client-server era transitions to a new mobile-cloud era.
I see a huge opportunity for VMware to extend the VMware brand from the data center to the desktop and help customers transition from traditional PCs to virtual desktops. We’re also living in a new mobile-cloud era where mobile is the new desktop and social becomes a core component of the way we work in the enterprise and some customers struggle to extend or adapt their infrastructure to support enterprise mobility.
At VMware the key unifying package is the Horizon Suite. Momentum is continuing since the Horizon Suite launch just six short months ago and our announcement at VMworld shows that we continue to advance our product strategy with new capabilities and partnerships that make supporting workforce mobility easier for IT.
I’m excited about the news we announced today around our plans to offer Horizon View desktop-as-a-service, new VMware Ready smartphones, new mobile partners and simplified Enterprise Mobile Management for IT with Horizon Workspace 1.5. But, I’m even more excited about the great customer feedback we’re getting.
Products need to be developed with customers in mind and we keep that in mind with every release. We’re excited by the support we are receiving from actual customers who have purchased our products.
