The VMware End-User Computing team is happy to announce the general availability release of VMware Horizon Application Manager 1.5.
Announced and detailed in a blog post on May 2, 2012 as a core component of the VMware end-user computing portfolio, VMware Horizon Application Manager is a cross platform management solution that enables IT to securely provide access to any application to end-users anytime, on the devices they prefer.
VMware Horizon Application Manager gives IT the capability to manage Windows-based appliactions as well as public and private cloud applications via enterprise policy and provides holistic visibility into their usage. End-users get a simple secure workspace and an enterprise application catalog for on-demand access to any of their apps.
We are so proud of the team (see below) for delivering this revolutionary product. It was a significant engineering effort to take a product, originally offered as a hosted service, and make it available as an enterprise class, on premise software. The product is now available as an easy to deploy “virtual appliance” with an intuitive wizard based setup, supported by a robust update service. This will allow our customers to unlock almost immediate value when they decide to leverage VMware Horizon's capabilities.
The general availability of VMware Horizon Application Manager 1.5 also includes VMware ThinApp, allowing easy, fast virtualization of Windows applications which can be managed centrally. This release is an important step for VMware as we deliver on our vision of a singular management platform for end-user computing in the “Post-PC” Era. Many more exciting things are on their way!
