I am pleased to announce VMware and NVIDIA have entered into a strategic partnership to further advance the usage and benefits of remote graphics when combining VMware’s virtualization and End-User Computing platforms with NVIDIA’s Quadro Virtualization Platform.
We expect that several exciting solutions will result from this collaboration. Most notable, delivering hardware accelerated 3D graphics to a complete range of new use cases to VMware View and Project AppBlast.
Through this partnership VMware and NVIDIA are working together to integrate and further advance technologies from both companies that address the rich graphics and 3D requirements not only for just typical task workers, but also the most demanding requirements of high-end workstation class users. We are talking about users with the most demanding 3D needs.
This collaboration further expands the uniquely differentiated, non-hardware accelerated 3D graphics support, for basic 3D workloads, available only from VMware vSphere and VMware View for virtual desktop. Working with NVIDIA to bring the most powerful hardware-accelerated graphics to our platforms allows us to deliver the most robust and complete graphics capacities of any virtual desktop platform.
As a result of our joint work with NVIDIA, our joint customers will benefit from knowing they will be able to address even the most demanding desktop and workstation use cases across their organization. All by leveraging VMware’s leading virtualization platform and NVIDIA leading graphics technologies together.
At VMworld 2011 Europe we are showcasing a technology preview targeting workstation class workloads typically common with Engineers, Designers, Artists and Scientists. Some of the components that will make up future end-to-end solutions included:
