Meet Your Technical Objectives Faster With VMware Adoption Guidance and Workshops

Technology adoption is a continuous lifecycle. As you invest in technology, you want to reach business and technical outcomes quickly and efficiently. Our VMware Customer Experience and Success product and engineering teams are continuously building personalized resources that help you reach your objectives. One core example of this are Adoption Guidance and Workshops as part of VMware Success 360.

Adoption Guidance and Workshops provide the perfect blend of self-service, resources and live engagements with personalized assistance from expert engineers who give you as much or as little help as you need to implement or optimize your VMware investments. These engagements are strategically positioned for VMware Success 360 customers across all five product franchises and transformation consulting pillars.

What are Adoption Guidance and Workshops?

Through research with you, our customers, and our own VMware expertise, we identified the most common desired outcomes across VMware product lines and built a library of resources to help you reach these outcomes quicker. These resources address challenges across lifecycle stages from onboarding, adopting, consuming and optimizing.. We call these resources “Adoption Guidance and Workshops”and they are broken into three types of assistance: Inform, Enable and Guide. We’ve also compiled resources into what we call Success Pathways, which include a step-by-step series of recommended Adoption Guidance and Workshops to help you drive adoption and consumption.

Adoption Guidance

Adoption Guidance is a key self-service piece of the VMware Success 360 offering. It’s designed to help you get the most out of your VMware investments in the most efficient way possible. This includes access to a library of success resources. These come in the form of videos, webinars, whitepapers, technical blogs and Knowledge Base articles that align to common objectives.

Your Success Executive will recommend and populate these resources into your Success Plan within VMware Customer Connect (see figure 1 below). You can easily sort, filter, consume and mark as complete as you’ve finished each task.

In addition to Adoption Guidance, VMware Success 360 customers can take advantage of Workshops. These are live, remote meetings with expert engineers who will lead you through a new feature or capability or illustrate configuration aspects in lab demonstration environments. You have access to Workshops across VMware product lines and your Success Executive can recommend these based on your goals.

For example, let’s say you’re looking to adopt VMware vRealize Network Insight Cloud and need help migrating a business-critical application. You also want to ensure you are gathering the right information for app-specific analysis. Through a Workshop, one of our expert engineers can remotely walk you through configuring vRealize Network Insight Cloud and answer any questions you and your team have.

What are Success Pathways?

Adoption Guidance and Workshops are specialized resources you can use individually. We’ve also organized these into Success Executive-recommended Success Pathways. Each pathway is unique to a specific use case or product and includes multiple assistance types to choose from based on time constraints, goals and preferred interaction models at each stage of your journey. Let’s walk through one of our existing Success Pathways.

Figure 2: VMware experts have addressed the most common challenges across VMware product lines and created a pathway of resources and engagements to help you overcome these challenges. In this example, a customer wants to migrate to VMware Cloud on AWS.

This example above is a pathway to move a business-critical application from an on-premises data center to AWS. Let’s say you’re comfortable working with VMware products but need help getting up to speed on AWS and want to focus on best practices for a smooth migration.

  1. The first step is to deploy VMware Cloud on AWS. You need to learn the steps to get VMware Cloud on AWS up and running. A webinar can get you and your team up to speed.
  2. Step 2 is to adopt VMware HCX™. In this case, you need to know how to configure HCX. Luckily, we have a webinar that teaches just that!
  3. Step 3 is to adopt VMware vRealize Network Insight. You’re migrating a business-critical application, so you need to be sure you gather the right information for app-specific analysis. A workshop with a 1-1 session with a VMware expert, who will walk you through configuring vRealize Network Insight Cloud, can answer any questions you have.
  4. Step 4 is to discover application dependencies. You need to get information on dependencies to build the migration plan, so your Success Plan will point you in the direction of another helpful webinar.
  5. Step 5 is to plan the application migration. You aren’t sure how to interpret the application information and the tool output to build a migration plan. You’d like someone to walk you through this. In this case, we recommend a workshop.
  6. You are ready to migrate the application from your data center to the cloud in step 6. You have a migration plan in place but want to ensure it goes smoothly as it is a business-critical application. An informative workshop accompanies this step.

Finally, you’ve been using the application in the new environment for a while. Demand of the app is increasing, and you need to optimize the environment for performance. This involves reconfiguring network elements and getting the most out of your cloud environment. This is outside your comfort zone, and you’d like to walk through it with an expert in a workshop.

Again, this is just an example of how you can leverage Success Pathways. Scenario and objectives vary, which is why Success Pathways are flexible based on your journey and the level of assistance you require.
