VMware Cloud Provider

Feature Friday Episode 60 – VMware Cloud Director 10.3, NSX-T vApp Networking Services

This week I am joined by Romain Decker (Staff Technical Product Manager) to discuss NSX-T vApp Networking capabilities for VMware Cloud Director (VCD) 10.3. This was a major release as we set vApp edge services in motion for NSX-T adopting like for like features from NSX-V vApp capability.

Grouping of workloads to meet application needs is crucial to VCD users therefore, vApp networking services are extremely important to connect the dots between customer vApps networks and organization networks. Starting with version 10.3, VMware Cloud Director supports vApp network services both for data centers that are backed by NSX-T Data Center and by NSX Data Center for vSphere (NSX-V).

In a nutshell, NSX-T vApps and networking feature makes it possible for Cloud Providers to work vApp Gateway such as routing, DHCP as well as Edge Firewall services and NAT – all this wasn’t achievable with NSX-T prior to VMware Cloud Director 10.3 release.

Tune into our 60th episode to understand this core feature better.
