This week I’m joined by Andrew Cruise and Benjamin Coetzer from Routed Hosting in South Africa. Routed is a VMware Principle and Cloud Verified Partner for VMware, delivering cloud services to other cloud provider partners in Africa. Doing so means Routed provides all the core infrastructure and surrounding services that their partners will need to utilize for their customers. Routed uses VMware Cloud Director as the core delivery platform for their partners, allowing partner branding and customization as well as offering extensible services directly within Cloud Director.
Routed uses Veeam, integrated to Cloud Director for backup services, ground to cloud, and migration from other non-VMware based hypervisor infrastructure to their Cloud Director platform. Veeam is integrated into Cloud Director’s user interface providing a consistent look and feel to their partners and their customers and covers a lot of use cases for on boarding and backup services.
Routed is a long time user of VMware Cloud Director Availability for Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) between their data centers, cloud to cloud, and sometimes on premise to cloud also. Routed is also one of VMware DR validated partners, offering DR services to market. Routed’s use of cloud to cloud is an easy upsell for partners as protection of applications needs to carry on in cloud, to allow for outages that maybe not from infrastructure failure, but critically malware and other cyber threats that companies of all sizes experience.
The use of a dual solution is not unusual, Routed is using the best technologies available on the market today and delivering a robust and all-encompassing data protection solution to partners and their customers, the success of which is seen in partner adoption of the services.
