Cloud-Native Applications is set to make quite a splash at this year’s VMworld US conference, taking place Aug. 27-31 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Over the course of these five days, the Cloud-Native Applications Business Unit at VMware will be holding sessions, Hands-on Labs, product demos, Meet the Expert roundtables, hackathons, and, of course, gatherings and parties to help you kick back after a long day of conferencing.
VMworld may still be a couple weeks out, but it’s never too early to start planning ahead for which events you should attend. In this post, we’re highlighting the Hands-on Labs and Meet the Expert roundtables (which you can start signing up for now!) that you absolutely can’t miss. Check them out below.

1. Photon OS and Container Basics – Getting Started Workshop [ELW183001U] – Sunday, Aug. 27, 1:30 p.m.
This lab is perfect for those new to the world of containers and looking to jumpstart their knowledge of this exciting technology. Principal Systems Engineer Pontus Rydin will guide you through the basic concepts of containers and offer a peek at more advanced topics, such as multi-component deployment and container networking. Gain hands-on experience by deploying a classic three-tier application using PhotonOS.
2. vSphere Integrated Containers – Getting Started Workshop [ELW183002U] – Tuesday, Aug. 29, 12:00 p.m.
Explore the vSphere Integrated Containers (VIC) platform, along with two other VMware open source tools (Projects Harbor and Admiral) for easing container management in this hands-on workshop led by container expert Pontus Rydin.
3. Kubernetes – Getting Started [ELW183101U] – Tuesday, Aug. 29, 1:30 p.m.
Dive into the components of the Kubernetes system in order to better understand the role of each component in this hands-on workshop led by Technical Product Manager Michael West. This workshop will grant you the opportunity to build, deploy and manage container-based applications with Kubernetes running on vSphere.

Explore the ins and outs of Kubernetes and how to leverage NSX-T with Kubernetes in order to control and manage the virtual network of your containers. This hands-on lab will be led by Staff Systems Engineer Hadar Freehling and NSX Ninja Mark Meulemans.
