It brings me great pleasure to announce the vCenter Server 5.5 Availability Guide is now available.
With the End of Availability of vCenter Server Heartbeat we had many questions around what our recommendations are for protecting vCenter Server. With the help of Anil Kapur and Justin King we’ve got a pretty solid paper that discusses what availability is, and how to best protect vCenter Server and all of its components along with its backend databases.
You can download the paper here: https://www.vmware.com/resources/techresources/10444

Mike,
I am trying to follow your guidance for creating a WSFC instance of vCenter 5.5. However I am a bit confused.
On Page 10, “Installing vCenter Server with WSFC”, step 1. You create the first node of the cluster with the name of ‘sin2vc.’ But then on Page 12, “Configuring the vCenter Server Role”, Step 3b, you state to use the original name, but you reference a new name ‘vcsimple.’
Where does this new name come from?
When I try to use the same name and IP as I did when I created the first node, I get an error that says they are already in use.
Rob.
