It may be hump day, but VMworld 2018 suffered no mid-week slump during Day 3 of this year’s electrifying conference. If anything, Day 3 exemplified and celebrated the absolute core of VMworld: the awesome, passionate and unbeatable vCommunity. With no general session kicking off Day 3 of VMworld 2018, attendees got right down to business test driving VMware products at the hands-on labs, hopping around from various breakout and showcase keynote sessions, deepening their knowledge at the Meet the Experts booth and mingling with the vCommunity.
The area that got tons of love and fanfare today was the Solutions Exchange, especially coming off of last night’s packed Hall Crawl event where attendees got to explore all of this year’s amazing vendor booths and indulge in some tasty food and beverage options. To celebrate the wrap of this year’s Solutions Exchange today, we hosted a special VMworld Challenge hour where some lucky and sharp-eyed attendees scored some free swag on the spot. But fret not—as long as you’re still at VMworld and participating in the various events, you can still earn some swag or use your rewards to donate to Kiva microloans.
In addition to our pop-up VMworld Challenge giveaway, we showed our appreciation to the vCommunity with several more surprise and delight goodies. Due to the rapturous fanfare from Monday, we did a repeat Nitro popcorn station to help cool attendees down and fill their bellies. We also staged a jailhouse rock prison break with a swarm of Elvis impersonators crooning for attendees and posing for some seriously epic photos. After all, it wouldn’t be a true trip to Vegas without Elvis being involved in some capacity.
The VMTN Community area in VMvillage was another hot spot today, hosting some jam-packed vBrownBag tech talks focused on digital transformation and pioneering the possible. Attendees could then hang left and discuss what they just learned in the VMUG lounge or dart straight ahead and chill out on a beanbag, recharge their devices or teeter the line between fun and innovation—literally—by mounting the light-up see-saws. There was also no better place to celebrate 20 years of VMware than in the VMware Innovation Zone, which took attendees on a journey through VMware’s first two decades and hinted at its exciting future.
Last but certainly not least, the vCommunity got the opportunity to really cut loose at the VMworld Fest. The premiere VMworld event offered four distinct environments, vibrant, globally-expansive food trucks and three stages featuring an exciting mixture of entertainment including the Royal Machines, self-described as “Rock’s Greatest All-Star Band,” lively dueling pianos, DJ Chris Clouse and The Purple Experience, the Prince cover band fit for a king. There was no shortage of fun to be had at VMworld Fest and no better way to conclude Day 3 of VMworld 2018 and usher us into tomorrow’s finale.
But before we get ahead of ourselves and call it a wrap on VMworld 2018, remember that there’s still quite a lot going on during tomorrow’s final day. We’ve still got more hands-on labs, the certification exam center will remain open throughout the day and you absolutely won’t want to miss tomorrow’s General Session. We’re almost to the finish line, but we promise it’ll be a final day well worth your time. Rest up and catch us back here tomorrow for the exciting conclusion to VMworld 2018.
