Explore Las Vegas Registration
August 21st – 24th, Las Vegas
We’re three weeks out from VMware Explore Las Vegas, and I couldn’t be more excited to connect with our customers and learn alongside them. We have curated the Explore experience for communications service providers (CSPs) to address the topics you bring up the most and answer the questions we continue to receive.
The sessions themselves are shaping up to be valuable resources for our telco customers, but I hope you’ll also join us to come see the latest demos, go to our hands-on labs and meet our wide range of enterprise customers.
So, what is the show all about for us this year?
We’ve been fielding a lot of questions about migrating IT workloads and performance across IT and network environments, so you’ll see many sessions about cloud native applications and telco-grade automation platforms. You’ll also find discussions about preparing for the scaled growth that has already begun at the edge.
Sanjay Uppal, GM & SVP of service provider and edge at VMware will take the stage in the “Everything Everywhere All At Once – Living on the Edge with VMware” keynote to talk about Edge sprawl. He will help you understand how enterprises are approaching this opportunity and highlight how the need for enterprise edge strategies is opening up an opportunity for our CSP customers.
Mariam Sorond, CTO of service provider and edge at VMware will also take to the keynote stage with John Swieringa, President and COO of DISH Wireless to highlight the necessity of programmable connectivity to enable enterprise growth at the edge.
With speakers from Cox, Singtel, City of Las Vegas, and Lumen, there are hundreds of sessions we welcome you to explore. We’ve also curated this list of sessions which are uniquely suited for CSPs.
Session Sneak Peek:
#2764 | Keynote – Everything Everywhere All At Once – Living on the Edge with VMware
Most business for a distributed enterprise runs outside of centralized locations and increasingly happens on the factory floor, in the retail store, in clinics, energy substations, 5G cell sites and millions of such “edge” locations. Different industries from telecom, retail and manufacturing to healthcare, energy and beyond are getting transformed with workloads moving and growing fastest at the Edge. From a 5G RAN, software-defined WAN with AIOPS to Computer Vision inferencing for making cars safely, use cases abound, but all need a consistent digital infrastructure with an underlying 5G/Fiber programmable network. The “Everywhere” distribution of the Edge, with the digital footprint down to a raspberry Pi, requires an “Everything” stack that is slim, runs automated at low latency and supports real-time workloads. Through real world examples, we will showcase how customers are solving their Edge use cases with VMware Edge technology.
Speakers: Sanjay Uppal, SVP and GM, Service Provider and Edge, VMware, Mariam Sorond, CTO, Service Provider and Edge, VMware, John Swieringa, President and COO of DISH Wireless

#1304 | Modernizing Applications for Telco of the Future
In this talk we present our journey towards modernizing Singtel’s digital services layer that serves our customers. Specifically, we discuss our ongoing work to introduce Backend as a Service (BaaS) Platform that can provide omni-channel capabilities through unified interface. This platform will be the core that enables Singtel to offer digital services and experiences with shorter time to market.
We first discuss the pre-BaaS state of the Backend Platform. The background on technical intricacies that slowed down our development speed, and various other issues impacting time to go live for new features sets the stage for this talk. We then present foundations of BaaS – concept, overall architecture, and technology developed in-house to build BaaS Platform. Finally, we finish by covering the work we have done so far, challenges we faced along the way, and the impact we have observed when transitioning to BaaS Platform.
