Communication Service Providers (CSPs) continuously strive to stay ahead of the industry.
VMware understands this, and with the latest update to the Telco Cloud Service Assurance 2.3,
we continue to bring in a suite of features designed to elevate operational efficiency and provide
an unparalleled quality of service. Let’s explore the improvements and upgrades that are
included in this newest version.
Extending vRAN assurance to Samsung vCU
VMware Telco Cloud Assurance 2.3 facilitates close monitoring of Samsung vCU network
functions, allowing CSPs to extend monitoring capabilities for a comprehensive solution at the
RAN sites.
VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance integrates with VMware Telco Cloud Platform to
optimize the design and deployment of Communication Service Providers’ Radio Access
Networks (RAN) cell sites. The service assurance is accomplished through pipeline monitoring,
discovery, and topology mapping capabilities. Once all components of a cell site are discovered,
and the logical topology is mapped within VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance, the focus
shifts to continuous monitoring for day-to-day operations. This ensures ongoing performance
and operational efficiency.
Events and Remediation for Workflow Hub
Workflow Hub, supported by the VMware Telco Cloud Automation 3.0, acts as an umbrella
orchestrator for the deployment and configuration of multiple vRAN sites. VMware Telco Cloud
Service Assurance 2.3 supports Workflow Hub to perform automatic remediation actions based
on events.
Integration with ServiceNow for Closed Loop Remediation
The new release enables NOC administrators to configure User Role-Based Access Control
permissions precisely for a secure and controlled remediation process. Seamless integration
with ServiceNow, including customized ServiceNow Lifecycle Management and Custom
Troubleshooting Actions (i.e. Ping, SSH), enhances service assurance capabilities, allowing
CSPs to easily track user-defined notifications and execute manual remediation rules, resulting
in a better user experience for administrators.
Unified Data Collection Framework
The new release further enhances our data collection framework with a comprehensive and
centralized mechanism designed to gather, consolidate, and analyze data from diverse sources
within a network or system infrastructure. VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance unifies and
collects information from various components such as:
- SNMP Capability Discovery
- AVRO Support in Kafka Collector
- NETCONF Collector
- Webhook Connector for Notifications
- SASL Authentication
Scaling Deployments
The innovative architecture, introduced with the 2.3 release, allows for incremental resource
allocation of VMware Telco Cloud Service Assurance for optimal performance and automatically
monitors the health status of new nodes in dashboards. A built-in feature allows Administrators to
add/remove and scale up/scale down VMs to meet the needs of the business or service it supports
effectively. This ensures optimal performance and supports future growth.
Allow Definition of Escalation Rules
The latest update allows NOC administrators to create complex escalation rules. An escalation
rule is a comprehensive plan that defines multiple levels of conditions and their corresponding
actions in response to incident alerts. The escalation rules provide a dynamic structure that
considers the acknowledgment status and the persistence of the alarm, allowing the NOC
administrators to efficiently manage the incident alerts in a streamlined manner, expediting the
incident resolutions.
KPI (Key Performance Indicators) Definition
CSPs can now define KPIs using the raw metrics received from devices. Using KPI designer,
they can define a new set of complex formulas to introduce a new setup of KPIs to monitor their
networks.
