For cloud infrastructure developers, who wish to build applications to manage resources on vCenter server, there is a new hands-on lab.
You can find the lab listed as HOL-SDC-1322 here: http://labs.hol.vmware.com/HOL/#lab/713
You will need to register if you have never taken a VMware hands-on lab before. In this lab you will build a Java application to manage resources on vCenter server using the Workbench IS IDE and the vSphere Management SDK.
Hands-on labs are a great way to try out VMware technology. There is nothing to download and nothing to install. All you need is a browser (Chrome and Firefox recommended but Safari and Internet Explorer 10+ will work too). This free hands-on lab includes a fully licensed copy of vCenter that you can use for up to three hours as often as you want.
Use the hands-on lab to learn vSphere APIs and as a developer sandbox to prototype your application. Also, included in the lab are detailed download and installation instructions to get up and running with Workbench IS and the vSphere Management SDK in your own environment.
