VMware Tanzu Platform
VMware Tanzu Platform Self Managed

  • You can now use the Tanzu CLI to grant access to Tanzu Platform resources through role bindings. This allows you to create, update, and delete role bindings for users with role and scope permissions.
  • You can create multiple EgressPoint resources in a single Space without setting the spec.sourceRef field. For more information about EgressPoint, see EgressPoint API reference.
  • You can create multiple EgressPoint resources in a single Space without setting the spec.sourceRef field. For more information about EgressPoint, see EgressPoint API reference.
  • (Tech Preview) Platform engineers can define a path to production using supply chains provided by Tanzu Platform. This allows users who do not have an existing pipeline tooling, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure Devops, or Jenkins, to define a path to production for applications without requiring additional tooling. For more information, see Platform engineering with supply chains.
  • Platform engineers can supplement the Tanzu-provided Capabilities with custom Capabilities. This gives you the flexibility to add custom packages to your fleet of Kubernetes clusters. For more information, see Add a custom Carvel package repository.
  • Platform engineers can configure the ingress for a Kubernetes Space with a global server load balancer (GSLB) of their choice. This allows you to manually create the required DNS records for ingress to a Space, and use any DNS provider you chose. For more information, see Configure a domain using your own GSLB.
  • Egress policies now allow for TCP connections in addition to HTTP protocols. This expands the ability to restrict external access from a Space. For more information, see Configure egress rules.
  • The visibility of errors that occur across Kubernetes Spaces have been improved. This includes error feedback about Space scheduling, application builds, application deployments, and ingress management.
  • You can now view rate, error, duration (RED) metrics from Cloud Foundry, Kubernetes Spaces, and Spring JVM metrics in the Application Performance tab. For more information, see Troubleshoot your applications and microservices.
  • You can create an email notification target by adding your SMTP server details.
  • You can add custom fields to a webhook notification target to customize the notifications for an alert. For more information see, Add notifications in Tanzu Platform.
  • Breaking Changes:
    • The egressPointTemplate field is now required in the Tanzu BuildConfiguration resource.
    • The crosscluster.tanzu.vmware.com Kubernetes Capability, which was previously in beta, has been removed. This Capability was not part of any Tanzu-provided cluster groups or ProThe product slug has changed from tanzu-platform-k8s to tanzu-platform. If you’re downloading Tanzu Platform files using the Tanzu Network API or the OM and Pivotal Network CLI, update your API or CLI requests to use the new slug.
