A Preview of the CARTES Secure Connexions Event

A study by Dimension Data shows that 79% of global IT leaders call mobility their top priority. Of these, 69% have an active plan they’re executing on. With this type of reliance of mobile devices, security is a growing priority for enterprises (a whopping 68% of enterprises called mobile and app security a “high” or “critical” priority in this Tabtimes article). These and similar topics are taking center stage at the CARTES Secure Connexions Event in Paris November 19-21, which my colleague Kelli Robinson and I will be attending.

There are various events I’m looking forward to – such as the smart shopping area displaying today’s latest mobile payments and retail innovations, the annual SESAMES Awards competition (rewarding the industry’s best innovations), and the dedicated events for mobile security.

The event starts off with a bang. CARTES’ inaugural session, entitled the World Card Summit, features a panel chaired by Alex Green (Senior Research Director at IHS). Three main topics will be debated:

  • The opportunities and threats for the secure digital industry
  • The impact of biometrics
  • Cloud security and mobility

Panelists include Olivier Piou (CEO of Gemalto); Steve Owen (SVP of Identification Sales at NXP Semiconductors); Philippe d’Andrea (EVP e-Documents Division at Morpho); Stefan Hofschen (CEO, Chip Card Division of Infineon Technologies); Axel Deininger (Senior Director of Mobile Security at Giesecke & Devrient); and Didier Lamouche (CEO of Oberthur Technologies).

If you plan to attend CARTES, please reach out to either myself or Kelli via LinkedIn. We’ll also write a post-conference follow-up blog to share the insights we took away, so stay tuned.
