Certifications are supposed to mean something. And they should be tough to acquire, and easy to lose. People who put their faith in certified professionals or organizations expect nothing less. Whether a certified public accountant, or ISO 27001-certified data center provider, certification carries expectations. Last year, the Cloud Foundry Foundation established certifications for providers. This told customers that providers met rigorous criteria on an annual basis. And for the second time in a row, Pivotal fits the bill.
This certification gives companies the license to innovate, free from lock-in fears. The proof is out there. Since this certification was announced, adoption of Cloud Foundry has skyrocketed. The explosive growth of our Cloud Foundry-certified product, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, gives us the privilege of working with more than 30% of the Fortune 100. You'll find industry leaders like GE, Ford, Verizon, Home Depot, Comcast, Humana, Lockheed Martin, Liberty Mutual, and more betting on Cloud Foundry.
"As one of the pioneers of Cloud Foundry, Pivotal has played an essential role in its growth and acceptance,” said Chip Childers, CTO, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “With the latest Cloud Foundry Certification, their customers can be sure they are using the same core Cloud Foundry platform of all certified offerings. Customers know they are working with a partner that is keeping up to date with the latest advancements in the Cloud Foundry software.”
Unlike many other industry certification programs, the technical compliance testing is based on specific Cloud Foundry software components—not just API-level compatibility, but the actual Foundation-released software. Companies can develop functional differences, but they must be based on specific plugin points within the Cloud Foundry platform architecture, and required Cloud Foundry component code cannot be modified. In Pivotal’s pursuit to provide the best and latest features to our customers, we consistently delivers the first commercial packaging of updated core Cloud Foundry components.
“With the latest Cloud Foundry Certification, [Pivotal] customers can be sure they are using the same core Cloud Foundry platform of all certified offerings. Customers know they are working with a partner that is keeping up to date with the latest advancements in the Cloud Foundry software.”
— Chip Childers, CTO, Cloud Foundry Foundation
By removing the threat of vendor lock-in and ensuring portability and interoperability across clouds and vendors, we, as a community, have enabled Cloud Foundry users and developers to protect their Cloud Foundry investments. As a result, Cloud Foundry has quickly become the de facto platform for building cloud-native applications that enable businesses to disrupt and win new marketplaces.
