Time Extensions Added to Certification Exams

One of my goals for our certification program is to tell you about some of our internal program changes. While they may not be as obvious as something like a new certification, they still make a positive difference for our candidates.

A couple months ago, we introduced the new method of running our beta exams and the improvements that came with that change.

Over the last several months, we’ve also adjusted the amount of time you have to complete our exams delivered at a PearsonVUE test center. Depending on which exam you register for and where you live in the world, you may see this:

“Notice: Appointments for this exam, scheduled to be taken after [a specific date], will automatically include the English as a Second Language (ESL) time extension for all candidates.”

The date on the notice will vary depending on when we changed the exam time.

Everyone will now have the extra time that in the past was given only to those candidates who lived in countries where English is not the first language.

The benefits of this change include:

  • All ESL candidates will receive extra time automatically and in every case.
  • Non-ESL candidates also still have sufficient time and are not impacted.
  • There will be enough time for ALL candidates who meet the minimum competency requirements to pass the exam.
  • More efficient exam delivery processes allow us to focus on other improvements.

We’ll continue to post announcements and explanations on other program enhancements, so keep reading the blog for the latest!

  1. Hi, thanks for the great news but i would like to inquire if the VCAP6-DCV Deployment exam is included on the new time extension changes, per my understanding it’s included. I have scheduled for the mentioned exam by end of August but i can’t see any changes on the length time of the exam on my Pearson VUE profile, it’s still shown 205 minutes. I appreciated your clarification with many thanks.

    1. We’ve been working on this change for quite a while now, and this was one of the exams we changed early on, back in 2016 in fact. So the 205 minutes is accurate, and is an increase from the original time, to include the extended time for ESL candidates.

  2. Hi,

I scheduled 3V0-643 exam on 12th of August in Hilo, Hawaii. english is not my first language. so, will i be able to benefit from time extension as well?

    thank you,

      1. sorry Karl,

I thought I replied this earlier. I did receive an extension and I made it. I pass it with really high score. I love NSX
