Last week, thousands gathered in San Francisco to journey to the center of the multi-cloud universe with VMware Explore 2022. It was an action-packed event filled with crowded session rooms, exciting announcements, and hands-on demos. Whether you couldn’t join us in person or just can’t get enough VMware Explore content, check out our security & networking highlights at the multi-cloud event of the year.
Solution Keynote
Are Your Networking and Security Solutions Cloud Smart?
Imagine a private cloud just as efficient and secure as the public cloud. Now turn that vision into reality. How can you effectively automate and operationalize networking and security to be cloud smart? Tom Gillis, SVP/GM of VMware Networking & Advanced Security, tells all in the most attended solution keynote of the event.
Breakout Sessions
Enforcing a Strong Zero-Trust Ransomware Defense
Today, it isn’t enough to post security at the perimeter and call it a day. In a zero-trust world, you have to assume attackers are already in your network and are staying there—living off the land. The solution? Security built on the principles of the cloud operating model. Learn more in this session with Ambika Kapur, VP of VMware Networking & Advanced Security.
Multi-Cloud Networking and Security with NSX
Got multi? Many enterprise IT orgs today have both multi-cloud and multi-site deployments supporting their workloads and applications. Why manage them separately when you could manage them with a common solution? Join Umesh Mahjan, SVP/GM of VMware Networking & Advanced Security, and discover how to protect any workload in any location with a multi-cloud VMware NSX solution.
Security Mindset: Changing The Way You Think About Enterprise Security
As technology rapidly evolves, so too must the people that manage those technologies. This begins with a changing mindset towards roles, responsibilities, and processes. Explore the concepts behind mindset and why it plays so heavily into personal, professional, and corporate success. Trust us, you don’t want to skip this topical (and hilarious) session with expert Chris McCain.
Announcements
Project Northstar
We introduced Project Northstar, a major advancement of our NSX platform. Announced in technology preview, Project Northstar will transform how enterprises consume networking and security in a multi-cloud world.
Read more about Project Northstar in the announcement blog, or find out how to join a future beta.
DPU-based Acceleration for NSX
DPU-based acceleration for NSX enables VMware customers to run NSX networking and security services on DPUs, providing accelerated performance for applications that need high throughput, low latency connectivity, and security.
Learn about DPU-based Acceleration for NSX in the release blog, and see the new webpage.
Project Watch
Project Watch was announced in technology preview, previewing a new approach to multi-cloud networking and security that will provide advanced app-to-app networking and security policy controls.
Get the run-down in the Project Watch announcement blog.
Project Trinidad
In technology preview, we announced Project Trinidad: an API Security and Analytics Platform. Uniquely merging security and observability, Project Trinidad extends VMware’s API security and analytics by deploying sensors on Kubernetes clusters. Project Trinidad combines machine learning with business logic inference to detect anomalous behavior in east-west traffic between microservices.
Dive into details and learn how to be a design partner in the Project Trinidad announcement blog.
The VMware Booth
Our booth was filled with demos showing hands-on applications, plus the chance to ask questions directly to VMware technologists. And that’s not all — did we mention we had a custom ransomware go-kart game?
