Just Like Winning an Oscar: VMware Certified Instructor of Quarter Announced

And the envelope, please! The Oscar goes to…

There may not be any red carpets, limos, or long speeches thanking parents and agents, but the VMware Certified Instructor (VCI) of the quarter award is just as prestigious as an Oscar win in our world.

This is a quarterly recognition awarded to VCIs for outstanding and inspiring contributions to VMware Education.

The Americas and Europe & Middle East winners identified for the period of January to March 2014 are Miguel Molina from Brazil and Hussam Abbas of Global Knowledge Egypt, respectively.  Congratulations to our two winners!

Miguel Molina

Miguel-Molina-VCI

Miguel secured the win thanks to top-notch evaluation scores, with more than three quarters awarding him a maximum five out of five value. A VCI since 2010, Miguel taught over 190 classes and obtained quite a few of our certifications along the way. He  is the first LATAM VCI to win this award and is also one of the select few VMware LATAM VCIs to be chosen as an evaluator to run ICWs. He helps onboard new LATAM VCIs growing the pool of quality instructors.

Not only is he an instructor and consultant for VMware, but he is also a professor in the evenings at the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP). As a professor he mentors graduate students in Cloud and VMware Virtualization. Miguel is recognized in LATAM as one of the top VMware experts having implemented and maintained vSphere and View at several companies.

Hussam Abbas

Hussam-Eldein-Abbas-Abd-ElAzim

Europe and Middle East VCI winner Hussam has high evaluation scores, also with three quarters in the maximum five out of five range. While he is new to the world of VCI (he earned his certification in October 2012), he is already focused on teaching advanced courses. Not only was he among the first to run the new 5.5 versions of the courses released at the start of the quarter, but between teaching 10 courses, took his VCAP-DCA certification so he could start teaching advanced courses.

Hussam is also among the top VCIs in terms of number of days teaching and in teaching the widest range of courses of any of the candidates shortlisted for this award. He is recognized in the region as an expert in Site Recovery Manager, Horizon View, as well vSphere.

Thanks also to the other candidates who were shortlisted, the decision by the Americas VCI Program Team this quarter is  always very difficult.  All candidates come very close to winning and will no doubt win future awards.

Congratulations to our winners, Miguel and Hussam.
