In the United States this week, many of us will spend Thanksgiving with family and friends. Thanksgiving is about many things, but more than anything else it’s about gratitude – and that global message applies to all cultures across the world. Universally, the spirit of gratitude is celebrated in many different ways throughout the year. In that spirit, on November 21, our Education Services Team participated in a fun and rewarding service activity to give back to the community.
“One of my favorite things about VMware is our core EPIC2 values, specifically the C that stands for Community which allows us to serve as citizen philanthropists. Service Learning opportunities like this make a real difference for those less fortunate than us and help the team bond while giving back to our local communities,” shared Milind Gurjar, VP of Worldwide Education Services.
Twenty-five of our team members gathered to fill backpacks with hygiene supplies, self-care items and encouraging letters for the homeless men, women and children that WeHOPE serves. This organization’s mission is to help people become healthy, employed and housed using innovative solutions and the impact of its services includes:
- 30,000+ mobile showers served since 2015
- 12,000+ loads of laundry provided since 2015
- 324,432 pounds of food distributed in 2018
