We are proud to announce that VMware Workspace ONE now supports Android (Go edition), a.k.a. Android Go, for fully managed devices with the release of Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub for Android version 22.06.
Android Go is a streamlined version of the Android mobile operating system designed for low-end hardware that can be sold at a more accessible price point. Originally introduced in Android 8 (Oreo), Android Go has gone through many iterations. With the release of Android 12 (Go edition) late last year, it now boasts a large user-base of 200 million and many new features. The fact that Android Go can achieve a lot of the best-in-class experience of Android in a smartphone at a much more affordable price clearly resonates around the globe.
The unique value proposition of Android Go is a perfect way to expand access to enterprise resources to every user in your organization when budget might previously have been a limiting factor. Android Go can also be an arrow in your quiver for users who don’t want to use their personal device with a work profile for BYOD, but would rather have a separate work phone to access enterprise resources.
Now that Workspace ONE supports Android Go on fully managed devices, our customers can deliver great Android experiences to more people than ever before. Manage applications, policies, compliance, and all the other granular management capabilities you have come to expect from Workspace ONE UEM.
