The AppConfig Community Momentum Continues to Push Forward

It’s been a great year for the AppConfig Community! What began as a small group of EMMs looking to establish a standard approach for enterprise app configuration has grown into a vibrant community of EMMs, developers and independent software vendors. On behalf of the other leaders of AppConfig including IBM, jamf, MobileIron, Soti, Blackberry, Cisco and SAP, we are thrilled with the growth of AppConfig over the last few years. Today, we have a community of over 2,160 developers, 22 enterprise mobile management supporters with 8 governing members, and 105 independent software vendors who have committed to making it easier to deliver enterprise-ready apps to employees.

“We’re thrilled to see the growth of the AppConfig community,” said Alok Ojha, senior director of security products, Box. “As founding members, we recognize the importance of simplifying mobile security controls for our customers and defining standards-based approaches to application management and security. The continued growth of the community is a testament to the importance of centralized security controls across mobile platforms.”

If you’re not aware, AppConfig is a community focused on driving enterprise app adoption by providing tools and best practices for configuring mobile business apps. Prior to AppConfig, it was difficult for developers to add security and management capabilities to mobile apps while taking full advantage of the built-in features without tieing to a specific EMM. Today, AppConfig offers a standardized approach for the enterprise app configuration which allows developers to streamline their integration with EMMs and help offer customers a more consistent experience across mobile apps.

“When we founded AppConfig three years ago with other software leaders, our goal was to simplify the development, management, and delivery of applications for enterprises. We’re thrilled to see the growth and adoption of appconfig-enabled apps by our customers and a thriving development community.”
