Current teams are already focusing on a wide variety of technologies for you to choose from:

Project 1: PowerCLI with VCDR, SRM & VSR
led by Max Daneri (VMware)
👉Looking for participants … Join now!

This project will explore scenarios involving VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery (VCDR) and Site Recovery Manager (SRM) with PowerCLI to protect virtual machines (VMs) from disaster events and ransomware attacks. The team is leveraging the versatility of PowerCLI to simplify disaster recovery.

Project 2: NSX+ Demo Ninja
led by Tuan Nguyen (VMware)
👉Looking for participants … Join now!

This NSXBotGPT chatbot will provide a fun, conversational interface for users to interact with NSX, allowing them to perform various tasks from answering any general to specific questions and obtain quick, short and precise information related to NSX networking and security. This hackathon project aims to develop a chatbot for NSX based on the enhanced supervised and unsupervised learning of ChatGPT based language LLM (Large Language Model) both vector (conversational) and list indexing (comprehensive deep response).

Project 3: One stop shop to accelerate your learning of VMware and AI/ML
“Home team” led by Ariel Sanchez Mora (VMware)
👍Team is full

How can you learn new technologies in the AI/ML space with your homelab?
This is the question the home team wants to help answer. By defining and automating a test environment and researching what CPU/GPU/etc capabilities we can use to our advantage, we hope to help everyone in the vCommunity get desirable skills.

Project 4: Using Gen AI to create new automation and convert existing code to new formats.
Team “Well Spoken” led by Dale Hassinger (VMware)
👍Team is full

Be prepared as we unveil our approach to transforming ordinary conversations into mind-boggling automation scripts. From novices to seasoned professionals, the team will unlock the secrets of this cutting-edge technology. Together, we shall revolutionize the way we automate VMware Products.

Project 5: Optimizing vSphere performance made easy
led by Martin Stoev (VMware)
👉Looking for participants … Join now!

Develop a full-blown UI plugin for optimizing performance of a vSphere environment infrastructure (decrease unnecessary allocated resources). We will leverage vSphere Client SDK APIs and vCenter APIs to collect, transform and prioritize important analytical data, based on which different optimization actions will be undertaken.
Deliver the plugin to vSphere environments with an automated installer deployment.

Project 6: If only I could have a vSphere Assistant…
led by Franky Barragan (VMware)
👉Looking for participants … Join now!

Has your boss ever asked you questions about your vSphere environment that you were expected to know off the cuff? What if you could have a GUI that you could ask those questions such as: How many VMs are in X datacenter? How much storage do we have left? How many hosts are out of compliance? When I was a VI Admin, I wished I could’ve had a …vSphere Assistant. How about we try to build one instead of wishing?
In this project, the ultimate goal is to create a vSphere Plug-in and teach it the way(s) of the vSphere and Aria APIs.

Project 7: The Power Actions Quest
led by Kamen Nikolov (VMware) & Kyle Ruddy (HashiCorp)
👍Team is full

Embark on a collective journey to build a comprehensive library of highly functional and user-friendly actions for Power Actions. We seek to explore and unleash the full capabilities of this solution by curating a rich collection of custom reports, infrastructure configuration scripts, and other useful actions that cater to the diverse needs of our VMware community.
Innovate fearlessly and create game-changing actions that simplify complex tasks, optimize vSphere operations, and enhance the overall UX. Together, we will transform the way users interact with vSphere!

Project 8: Enabling Tanzu Application Service (TAS) Applications with AI/ML
led by Nick Kuhn (VMware)
👉Looking for participants … Join now!

Generative AI and Machine-learning are all the rage; the team will explore ways to enable AI capabilities for the millions of containers running on VMware Tanzu Application Service and the Cloud Foundry ecosystem. This includes enabling GPU support within the Tanzu Application Service ecosystem and how this new functionality can train Large Language Models (LLM) on the platform. Lastly, we will connect all these pieces to demonstrate a Chat-GPT-style application running on top of Cloud Foundry and interacting with the LLM running as a bosh deployment. This work could lay the framework to enable all organizations using Tanzu Application Service to deploy AI-based workloads within their app platform.

Project 9: Building cool stuff with Tanzu Platform
led by John Rembold (Involta)
