The VMware {code} Hackathon returns to VMware Explore Las Vegas 2026—but this year we’re doing something different.
Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we design, build, and automate software. Rather than a traditional coding competition, we’re inviting the VMware {code} community to explore what happens when people and AI create together.
Whether you’re an automation engineer, developer, infrastructure architect, or simply curious about AI, you’ll spend an evening collaborating with other attendees to build something new using AI-assisted development.

✨ New for 2026: Start with the AI Build Lab
Everyone begins the evening together.
From 7:00 PM – 7:30 PM, we’ll host an interactive AI Build Lab where you’ll:
- Meet fellow hackathon participants
- Join or form a project team
- Learn how to use Claude AI for development
- Explore AI-assisted coding, debugging, and design
The AI Build Lab is designed for everyone—from beginners to experienced AI users. By 7:30 PM, teams are ready to build.
The Challenge
At 7:30 PM, the hackathon officially begins.
Teams will have one evening to build a working prototype using AI as a core part of development.
Use AI to brainstorm, design, code, debug, document, and refine your project.
