In light of recent events, it’s easy to cancel MeetUps entirely. But, as we’ve seen in the past, MeetUps allow the community to meet one another and learn from one another. They are a core part of our motto “Learn, Code, Connect”. Instead of our usual in person MeetUps, we are going to have this month’s MeetUp online.

Why should you attend? You will learn something new, meet other community members- and the best part- you can participate right from your bed! We will be livestreaming the event on our YouTube channel, youtube.com/vmwarecode at 6PM Pst. We encourage attendees to ask questions in the chat as they come up, our wonderful speakers will be dedicating the final 15 minutes to Q&A.

Evening Agenda:

6:00 pm: Welcome Introductions
6:30 pm Talk : “Control Your Cluster With Kyverno! “- Shuting Zhao & Jim Bugwadia
7:30 pm: Q&A

The Talk:

Kubernetes is awesome but managing configurations can be challenging. The pain only increases with multiple workloads and clusters. Kyverno provides an easy way to validate settings, generate defaults and mutate resources, using policies. In addition, Kyverno can easily check your existing cluster configurations against a set of customizable rules, and help you move towards enforcing best practices for security, isolation, and resiliency across clusters.

Speakers:

Jim Bugwadia
Jim is a founder and the CEO at Nirmata, the Kubernetes management plane for enterprises! Jim has been building large-scale distributed software for the last two decades. Jim started his career developing C++ software at Motorola for cellular network infrastructure, where his team launched the world’s first CDMA network. Since then Jim has held several developer, architect, and leadership roles at companies like Bell Labs, Cisco, Trapeze Networks, and Pano Logic.
Shuting Zhao

Shuting Zhao is a software engineer at Nirmata, working on Kyverno and several other cloud-native projects that help automate the deployment and operation of workloads and Kubernetes clusters. She started coding for a school project on software-defined networking, and has since developed a keen interest in distributed systems. Shuting is a Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) since Oct 2018.
