Cloud Services VMware Cloud Provider

vCD 10 is GA! (i.e. Glorious and Awesome)

And also generally available!

After generating quite the buzz at VMworld, vCloud Director 10 has officially landed (in no small part thanks to our beta community! #represent). Fitting to its version number, the release marks the most significant leap in vCloud Director establishing itself as *the* strategic service-delivery platform for cloud providers.

vCloud Director Powers Industry-leadership

Don’t take our word for it – just ask the high flyers of the enterprise cloud industry. Cloud providers such as Expedient have doubled down on vCD to help fuel their meteoric rise, and ecosystem partners such as Cloudian have invested in vCD integrations to help them stay at the top of their industry.

vCD 10 Delivers a Rich Cloud Services Suite

vCD 10 features a vast suite of updates, fundamentally allowing cloud providers to do 3 things – drive down costs, generate more revenue, and directly address the developer. As covered in the announcement blog, vCloud Director enables Cloud Providers to deliver a rich portfolio of turnkey cloud services – from migration to availability to security and app services on top of a hyperscale-class cloud platform.

Core Efficiency Improvements

In the build process of this release, we took a close look at the core tenents of vCloud Director – and reinvented some of the feature-sets that matter most to our cloud provider community. Intelligent and dynamic workload placement in multi-tenant environments, unifying private and public cloud management, and more. Services can be profitable only when the underlying infrastructure delivers – and vCD continues to make significant strides in infrastructure efficiency.

Addressing Developer Needs

Part of improving infrastructure is to also make it invisible – reducing it to an API or a simple line of code. To that end, we’ve kept the developer / builder front and center for this release. Along with improving vCD-as-code automation and enabling enterprise-grade K8s on vCD, we also deliver the foundations for multi-cloud networking with deeper integration with NSX-T (NAT, DHCP, Edge Firewall, DNS, and VPN) and Day-1 application-building with an app catalog, currently in tech preview.

Whether you’re a developer, admin, SRE, devops, or some esoteric combination of the above, check out all that vCD 10 has to offer – and more – on the official release notes.
