VMware Cloud on AWS GovCloud (US) Achieves FedRAMP Ready High Designation with the JAB

We are very excited to share that VMware Cloud on AWS GovCloud (US) has achieved the FedRAMP Ready High designation with the Joint Authorization Board (JAB). The JAB includes representatives from the Department of Defense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and General Services Administration (GSA). The JAB prioritizes only 12 Cloud Service Offerings (CSOs) per year, and their selection is based on vendors that have demonstrated government-wide demand.

VMware CloudTM on AWS GovCloud (US) is a jointly engineered service that brings VMware’s rich Software-Defined Data Center SDDC software to the AWS GovCloud (US) Region, with optimized access to AWS services. With the same architecture and operational experience on-premises and in the cloud, U.S. Public Sector IT teams can now quickly derive instant business value through the AWS and VMware hybrid cloud experience. A few months back, we provided some key updates about the VMware Cloud on AWS GovCloud (US), including news about the service being In-Process for a FedRAMP Agency Authorization.

Once a JAB P-ATO is achieved, this will help demonstrate that VMware Cloud on AWS GovCloud (US) is an intrinsically secure and robust cloud service that U.S. Government agencies and their service providers can rely upon for their cloud needs. This will also help them make the decision to adopt faster by establishing a baseline review and approval they can rely upon during their own evaluation and authorization process and enabling them to rely on the high standards that a JAB P-ATO sets for companies when it comes to the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the service.
