We’re excited to announce significant improvements to VMware vRealize Automation Cloud. In this article, we run you through the latest updates and features.
Following the launch of vRealize Automation 8.1 last month, we’re pleased to share the latest improvements to vRealize Automation Cloud, the SaaS sibling of vRA.
Granular approvals for any catalog item
Approval policies have been one of the most important features in vRealize Automation. In this release, we made some significant improvements. Approvals can now apply to all catalog items, including native vRA Blueprints, AWS CFTs, vRO workflows, ABX actions, OVAs and more.
Additionally, users can now trigger approval policies based on granular, resource-level criteria, such as cloud account, target cloud, flavor/size, image, region and resource type.

Custom resources and Day 2 actions
We’re constantly adding new out-of-the-box resources and actions in vRA Cloud. However, as every environment is different and has unique requirements, we also introduce custom resources and actions in vRA. You can add and manage custom resource types as vRA blueprint objects, as well as create lifecycle actions to adapt to any process or workflow.

Other additions
This month, we also introduced new features to the Terraform Provider for vRA, deployment history details for up to 90 days after deletion, API enhancements for password change and the ability to share ABX actions across projects.
