Today at VMworld EMEA 2018, we are announcing VMware Cloud Foundation 3.5. VMware Cloud Foundation continues to provide the simplest way to build an integrated hybrid cloud by delivering a complete set of software-defined services for compute, storage, networking, security, and cloud management to run enterprise apps – traditional or containerized – in private or public environments. Our latest release includes support of NSX-T and VMware PKS, allows even greater deployment flexibility and choice of hardware and typologies, and has deeper integration with composable systems like HPE Synergy. Cloud Foundation drastically simplifies the hybrid cloud by delivering a single integrated solution that is easy to operate, thanks to built-in automated lifecycle management. With this new release, Cloud Foundation can now be used for a wider variety of use cases, continuing our mission to be the easiest way for our customers to achieve the hybrid cloud.
Let’s dig into some of the new features and capabilities of VMware Cloud Foundation. One of the biggest changes in the 3.x versions of Cloud Foundation is greater flexibility and choice of hardware on which customers can run Cloud Foundation. VMware now supports any vSAN ReadyNode, and the use of any physical networking ToR switches that are capable of meeting the requirements of vSAN. This offers customers a wide variety of hardware vendors and configurations to choose from when purchasing servers and switching for Cloud Foundation implementations.
Also new in Cloud Foundation 3.5 is the option for customers to leverage existing storage investments on their journey to a complete VMware Cloud Foundation built on vSAN. Customers can now create workload domains on managed external NFS storage, and then move to a full-stack hyperconverged infrastructure based on vSAN at their own pace.
VMware announced many new versions of products at VMworld 2018 in Las Vegas. We’re pleased to announce that Cloud Foundation 3.5 features vSphere and vSAN 6.7u1, bringing important performance, usability and security enhancements to the core compute and storage platform. In addition to vSphere and vSAN updates, Cloud Foundation 3.5 brings updated versions of vRealize products and NSX-V into the integrated hybrid cloud platform. Cloud Foundation 3.5 also provides automated deployment of NSX-T in workload domains, which offers support for container services and hybrid cloud configurations.
Finally, VMware Cloud Foundation brings enhanced multi-site support by leveraging vSAN Stretched Clusters, dual-region disaster recovery, and cross-vCenter NSX-V configurations, as a well as the ability move workloads at scale across private and public clouds with NSX Hybrid Connect.
