VMware Cloud Foundation(VCF) is the industry’s first private cloud platform to deliver public cloud scale and agility with private cloud security, resilience and performance. This results in a very compelling return on investment and low overall total cost of ownership, which is a focal point of the IDC study. It delivers a consistent private cloud experience across ANY Environment – whether it’s a customer managed data center, edge location or any cloud endpoint with license portability. VCF empowers customers to deliver ANY Application by deploying both traditional or container apps with self-service catalogs and complete automation.
Today, the VCF team is excited to share the latest IDC Business Value Study findings, based on actual VCF customer interviews demonstrating how they experienced reduced infrastructure and operational costs, improved team efficiency, and a significant decrease in unplanned downtime.
VMware Cloud Foundation Outperforms Alternatives
In the IDC Business Value Study[1], published in August 2024, IDC evaluated the financial impact of VMware Cloud Foundation by interviewing organizations that are using VCF for running production workloads in their private and hybrid infrastructure deployments. Based on a global pool of customers, IDC interviewed large organizations from North America and EMEA, spanning diverse industry verticals such as healthcare, banking, government, higher education, IT services, retail, and telecom.
These customers required a secure, agile, and cost-effective private cloud infrastructure that addresses their priority business strategies. Most customers were using legacy 3-tier infrastructure environments before adopting VMware Cloud Foundation.
With VMware Cloud Foundation, these customers were able to consolidate workloads to lower capital expenditures, while orchestrating processes to gain better efficiency and lower operating expenditures. Gains in productivity were observed enabling organizations to build, test, and deploy applications and features faster, allowing them to deliver new software functionality with dramatically less friction.
Here are some of the key findings for this IDC study- Business Value of VMware Cloud Foundation[1]
