Deploying Workload Domains with Async Patches in VCF 5.2

As your private cloud infrastructure grows, so does the complexity of managing it. With multiple clusters and workload domains to maintain, it can be a challenge to keep everything up to date and running smoothly. That’s where VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) comes in – the platform that simplifies the deployment and lifecycle management of your private cloud infrastructure.

Async patches are critical updates available outside of the normal VCF bill of materials release process. One of the notable benefits of VCF 5.2 is the new ability to deploy async patches right from the SDDC Manager graphical interface  – this is significantly more efficient than the previous method of using the Async Patch Tool CLI. But what if you could just skip having to apply a patch on new workload domains altogether?

Simplifying Async Patching

Before VCF 5.2, administrators had to manually update new workload domains to match the async patch version of the management domain, adding an extra step to the lifecycle management process. With VCF 5.2, this manual update is no longer required – we’re introducing a new enhancement that simplifies your workflow when scaling your private cloud infrastructure. Now, when you deploy a new workload domain, the component versions will automatically match the async patch version of the management domain. This streamlines the async patching process, reducing the risk of inconsistencies across workload domains.

By incorporating async patch installation during workload domain deployment, VCF 5.2 saves administrators time and effort, enabling them to focus on more strategic tasks that drive business value.

Takeaway

With VCF 5.2, we’re making it easier for administrators to manage their private cloud infrastructure. By simplifying async patch management, we’re saving administrators time and effort, and enabling them to focus on more strategic tasks. Whether you’re looking to optimize your infrastructure, deliver new services, or simply reduce the complexity of your environment, VCF 5.2 is the perfect solution.
