What's in a name?
The eagle-eyed amongst us may notice a few changes on the VMware.com site today. And no, I'm not talking about the general availability of VMware Lifecycle Manager or even the release of VMware Server Beta 2. Care to guess? I will send one "I <3 VMware" sticker to the first person who gets it in the comments.
[Update: kudos to Duncan and Frank -- ESX and ESXi are now the foundation for your dynamic and automated data center. There is no longer a Server installed on your Server.]

Is it the large VMware logo is gone?

Nope, not it. There are hints in the metadata of this blog post.

You changed your logo. The HTML source for the page includes:
However, I can't seem to load that graphic directly, so I don't know exactly how it changed....

Virtual Infrastructure is now apparently called "VMware Infrastructure"?

1/2 marks and a Sticker to Mr Yellow Bricks, but just to draw it out in a slightly tedious way, another sticker if you get the bigger change on the ESX page. You probably don't notice because unless you have the corporate marketing police after you, you've always called it this.

Is it the Worldwide drop down?

Gone is the term "server" from ESX verbage...?
Posted by: Frank | March 31, 2008 at 01:57 PM
@nolan -- actually, it's always officially been "VMware Infrastructure", but we get it wrong ourselves sometimes, even in print.

And Franks gets the big picture! ESX Server is now ESX, and ESX Server 3i is now ESXi. Welcome to your new VMware Infrastructure, pretty much the same as the old VMware Infrastructure.

Is is that it's not called ESX "Server"? Just ESX and ESXi?
Shucks, someone already answered while I was typing this...

The page title still contains "ESX Server 3i" / "ESX Server".
