In my role as vice president IT–business IT at VMware, I have witnessed a shift in digital transformation firsthand. No longer a buzzword practitioners use when speaking in future tense, digital transformation is a physical manifestation of the here and now. As IT leaders, we can no longer ignore this fact.
Digital transformation that’s driven by software, cloud, mobile, and big data is invading, provoking, and morphing the way we run business and IT here at VMware. Now more than ever, IT is giving various VMware teams the power to compete more aggressively, increasing the effectiveness of our employees and allowing them to connect with customers in ways that were previously impossible. Tapping the power of mobile-cloud architecture, we have successfully enabled VMware lines of business.
In the VMworld 2017 session “IT Transformation at VMware,” I will discuss VMware’s digital transformation journey. Duncan Hewett, senior vice president and general manager for VMware’s business in Asia Pacific and Japan, will join me to share his thoughts on how IT’s agility with mobile, applications, and infrastructure has enabled him to run and transform his business.
By transforming this buzzword from an idea into a reality, the VMware IT team has made significant developments in private cloud, DevOps, and business mobility.
