Announcing the First VMware vSAN and Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX Joint Solution for Microsoft Exchange Solution Reviewed Program

We are pleased to announce the first joint solution white paper listing on Microsoft Exchange Solution Reviewed Program (ESRP): “Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX for VMware vSAN 20,000 User Mailbox Exchange 2016 Mailbox Resiliency Storage Solution”, published together by VMware and Fujitsu. This program is designed to certify third-party storage to pass a series of testing to satisfy the desired Exchange user mailbox profile.

VMware vSAN delivers consistent performance, high availability and improved TCO for Exchange administrators with a next-generation HyperConverged platform. This ESRP certificate validates 20,000 user mailboxes with both storage (FTT=1) and application (2 DAG copies) level protection. The targeted customer profile for the tested Microsoft Exchange 2016 Mailbox profile in this solution is defined as follows:

  • 20,000 user mailboxes
  • 1GB mailbox size
  • 8 Exchange Servers with DAG configured
  • Mailbox Resiliency with 2 database copies
  • 0.36 IOPS per user mailbox (450 message per day, including 20 percent headroom)
  • 24×7 Background Database Maintenance job enabled

PRIMEFLEX

VMware vSAN allows Exchange users a precise control of storage services through storage policy based management, such as resiliency level, erasure coding, capacity reservation, IOPS limits etc. VMware vSAN also provides flexible scalability opportunity to accommodate greater Exchange Mailbox number and size by adopting the building block methodology: A single vSAN node is validated to support up to 2,500 user mailboxes and 1 GB mailbox size. Customers may easily scale out for a larger user mailbox number; or simply scale up for bigger mailbox size.
