The landscape of digital transformation has paved the way for unprecedented opportunities, but it has also brought along a new set of challenges. In a world where ransomware attacks and unexpected disasters loom, the need for robust and efficient recovery has never been more critical. VMware has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation by introducing groundbreaking enhancements to VMware Cloud DR and VMware Ransomware Recovery at Explore Las Vegas 2023.
Accelerated Multi-Cloud Recovery From Modern Ransomware At Scale
- Multi-VM Ransomware Recovery: Introducing bulk VM processing for VMware Ransomware Recovery. With this new feature, users benefit from streamlined and automated recovery of multiple VMs at a time, speeding up time to recovery and optimizing IT resources. Bulk VM processing operates within the existing guided ransomware recovery workflow, which spans across identification, validation and restore of recovery points. Up to 500 VMs can be included in a single ransomware recovery plan, with concurrent processing being possible on 50 VMs at a time, thus allowing multiple VMs to undergo live behavioral analysis to surface any security alerts, which can be used to cleanse ransomware strains from compromised snapshots. Together, these integrated capabilities deliver more confident, faster restore of operations in the event of a successful ransomware attack. Multi-VM Ransomware Recovery is generally available.
- Cybersecure Storage: VMware unveils a technology preview of Cybersecure Storage, which will shorten recovery times by integrating VMware Ransomware Recovery’s workflow with native vSAN snapshots to deliver delta-based transfer optimizations. Customers can also benefit from simplified operations with auto-replication to cloud and the capability to auto-identify best baseline snapshots to recover from.
- Run Production Workloads in the Cloud: VMware Ransomware Recovery will allow customers to keep running their production VMs in the cloud (recovery SDDC) until the primary site has been fortified and forensics completed. This capability is expected to be available in Q3FY24.
- Multi-Cloud Recovery: In addition, VMware Cloud DR and VMware Ransomware Recovery now protect Google Cloud VMware Engine (Generally Available) and AWS Outposts (Technology Preview) workloads. Customers can now protect their workloads running in different clouds against ransomware attacks and other disasters, and restore those workloads back to the original site once recovery operations have been completed.
