What’s New in VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery – Streamline Your DR Journey

Streamline Your Disaster Recovery

Disaster Recovery (DR) can feel daunting because there are many options and your organization’s viability depends on it. But with new resources and recent enhancements available for VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery, we provide more ways to streamline your DR-as-a-service (DRaaS) adoption journey.

If You Are Just Getting Started

If you are in the early stages of your DR project, start with the new Disaster Recovery step-by-step guide in the VMware Cloud Launchpad portal. This new guide helps you Learn, Plan and Try VMware Cloud DR to tailor it to your DR needs.

In addition, you can read up on how VMware Cloud DR could save you 60% lower DR total cost of ownership (TCO) and reduce your DR carbon footprint by up to 80% (or more). To do TCO calculations for your specific environment, there’s a new simple TCO calculator available too – it calculates the 3-year TCO for an on-premises DR solution compared to VMware Cloud DR.

New VMware Cloud DR Enhancements

The product team has also been hard at work to make DR easier.

Support for larger environments: We now support up to 2500 VMs per AWS region per VMware Cloud organization. You can split these VMs across multiple VMware Cloud DR file system instances or have them all running in 1 instance, depending on the size of your VMs.

Bring your existing recovery SDDCs: If you already use VMware Cloud on AWS, you can now utilize existing SDDC hosts/clusters for VMware Cloud DR testing and failover. Clusters and hosts added from the VMware Cloud console are automatically recognized by VMware Cloud DR.

Great news for our Italian customers: Ciao! We have added support for the AWS Europe (Milan) region, which totals to 17 AWS regions supported worldwide: 5 in North America, 6 in Europe, 4 in Asia, 1 in Australia, and 1 in South America.

Check out the VMware Cloud DR release notes for more details on these and other enhancements.

When You Need More Help, Turn to The Experts

We all can use help sometimes. VMware’s Professional Services is ready with 4 new VMware Cloud DRaaS service offerings, spanning 1-week, 3-week, 6-week, and custom engagements. They can assist with assessing your environment, developing your DR strategy, creating your DR plans, testing those plans and more. In the end, you will be DR Ready – confident that your DR plan will work when a disaster strikes.

In today’s environment, a robust, yet easy-to-use disaster recovery plan is more important than ever – it’s the last line of defense (against ransomware attacks, regional power outages, and other disaster events). VMware is here to help.
