VMware is committed to supporting our customers for growth and success. In these trying times, some of you have contacted us to share that the global pandemic has made it more difficult to execute your planned infrastructure upgrades. We can help address this challenge by offering both increased flexibility and continued support as we work together to prepare for the next normal.
Extension of vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 General Support
To help you manage the current situation, we are extending the general support period for vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 by 11 months, to October 15, 2022. Originally, vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 were scheduled to reach EoGS (End of General Support) on November 15, 2021.
The original EoTG (End of Technical Guidance) date of November 15, 2023, still applies for vSAN 6.5 and 6.6. There is no change in support dates for any other vSAN version.
The longer vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 supportability period is intended to help customers through an uncertain time with worry-free stability and introduce an added buffer for planning future upgrades as you resume regular operations moving forward.
We’re taking this step in parallel with the extension of vSphere 6.5 general support, which we also announced today.
Summary of Key Dates for vSAN 6.5 and 6.6
Note: For vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 there is no plan for Extended Support after the end of general support. Extended Support will only be available on vSAN 6.7 – our final long-term support 6.x offer. Customers who will need vSAN 6.x support beyond October 15, 2022, should plan to move to vSAN 6.7 (or preferably move to vSAN 7).
Limitations for vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 Extension of General Support
The caveats defined in the “Limitations for vSphere 6.5 extension of general support” section of this blog are applicable to vSAN 6.5 and 6.6 extended general support. Deviations from this configuration or any other VMware-supported configuration will be considered unsupported.
Please see this page for VMware support policy details.
