Here are the highlights from the event:
The Keynote session by Yanbing Li and John Gilmartin drew a full house. Attendees learned about Cloud Native Storage Control Plane for vSphere launch and heard about vSAN no longer being just an EBS-backed storage on AWS, but rather a data control plane. vSAN is now enabled to consume AWS Elastic Block Store instead of only physical devices.
Demos included hyperconverged infrastructure deployment with VMware Cloud foundation for migration from data center to VMware Cloud on AWS.
Other announcements included vSAN 6.7.1 release; vSAN Beta for native Data Protection, File Services, as well as persistent storage and data services for Cloud Native Applications; and another flavor of Cloudera Hadoop deployment on vSAN.
vSAN HOL hosted more than 600 attendees and 8.6 petabytes of HOL VM storage running live on vSAN backed by EBS.
HCI was well represented in quick talks, breakout sessions drawing more than 6,000 attendees.
HCI Zone at Solutions Exchange provided Edge to Core to Cloud partner solutions and answered many attendee questions about hyper-converged infrastructure. Mission critical and video analytics applications were showcased by Dell EMC VxRail, HPE, Lenovo, and Cisco partners.
See you next year at VMworld 2019 San Francisco!
