vSAN 6.2 was launched in February 2016 and introduced data efficiency features like deduplication, compression and erasure coding for all flash environments which significantly helps customers lower their total cost of ownership. Following the success of vSAN 6.2, the team introduced vSAN 6.5 on November 15th, 2016. vSAN 6.5 introduced new features including 2-node direct connect, which can save customers up to 20% per ROBO site, full feature PowerCLI for scalability and ease of enterprise-class automation, and support for next-gen hardware including large capacity drives with 512e support.
