VMware Announces Intent to Acquire Nyansa to Extend VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud Visibility, Analytics, and Troubleshooting into the LAN

By Sanjay Uppal, VP and GM, VeloCloud Business Unit, VMware

In January 2019, we announced our vision for the evolution and SD-WAN and called it Network Edge, basing it on the belief that SD-WAN has unlimited potential in supporting technological advancements in the networking world. Part of that vision was the expansion of SD-WAN beyond the wide area network (WAN) and into the local area network (LAN) to deliver an even deeper end-to-end understanding of how the entire network is being used and deliver on the promise of self-healing networks.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that our Network Edge vision has been realized with the intent to acquire Nyansa, Inc. (pronounced “knee-ans-sah”). Combining the industry leading capabilities of VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud with Nyansa’s cloud-based AIOps platform offering, users will have access to a single platform that can deliver comprehensive and actionable data on network traffic and application performance from the cloud, to branch offices, to the end user and across their wired and/or wireless devices.

What does this mean for VMware customers? First, Nyansa can proactively predict client problems, optimize their network, better enable the behavior of critical IoT devices, and justify infrastructure changes based on actual user, network and application data. Second, you will be able to use the breadth and depth of Nyansa’s data ingestion and analysis, including packet analysis and metrics via API across multi-vendor wired and wireless LAN environments. Finally, the combination of Nyansa’s AI/ML capabilities with VMware’s existing analytics, visibility and remediation capabilities will make it easier for you to operate and troubleshoot the virtual cloud network and accelerate the realization of a self-healing network.

Abe and his team have done a fantastic job building a highly differentiated solution that meets a real customer pain point, and I could not be happier that the Nyansa team has decided to join us on this network transformation journey. I encourage you to read more about their story in his blog as together we move ahead.
