Your Mac Craves Caffeine

Have you ever been presenting in a room full of people and suddenly your presentation disappeared because your computer went to sleep?  Before we started using Caffeine, this happened to us all the time.

Caffeine is this nifty little application from Lighthead Software that keeps your computer screen from going to sleep.

The application puts a little cup of coffee in your Menu Bar. When you want to keep your screen from going to sleep, just click on the cup of coffee and you fill it up.

You can set caffeine to keep your screen on indefinitely, or choose to have it turn off automatically after a certain amount of time (in case you tend to forget to turn it off).

We use Caffeine all the time, but here’s a few specific cases:

  1. When using a projector, so you don’t have to keep waking up your laptop.
  2. At demos, so you don’t need to worry about a black screen.
  3. When watching videos.
  4. When showing a slide show.

Share other ways you use Caffeine with the rest of the VMware Fusion community in the comments below.

This is part of an ongoing series of great Mac applications Team Fusion loves! If you have any suggestions for future, please let us know in the comments.

What about something on-topic for a change? Like, you know, something about FUSION? Or, oh horrors, the long overdue Fusion 4?
Spare us this junk, please. And get your act together about Fusion development, even I, long-time user of VMware products, am seriously looking at Parallels now. Good job there.
