Sneak Peek of Upcoming VMware Tanzu Application Service Release

Nick Kuhn and Karim Chelouati co-wrote this post.

Yes, you heard that right. A new version of VMware Tanzu Application Service is on the horizon and will be jam-packed with new features for both the developers and operators of the platform. Here are a few highlights of what teams can expect.

Developer enhancements

In our ongoing effort to reduce developer toil, we will be adding the ability to dynamically update Application Security Groups (ASGs) without the need for developers to restart their applications for changes to take effect. This will enhance the developer experience when new ASG requirements need to be implemented, and it will save time by eliminating the need to orchestrate application restarts.

Operator enhancements

To further enhance the operator experience of Tanzu Application Service, there are many operator-level enhancements in flight. One that we would like to call out focuses on saving time for operations teams by reducing the effort needed to rotate root certificate authorities (CAs) on the platform. Re-creating all virtual machines will no longer be required to complete the CA rotation process. This will reduce the time needed for operators and allow for the process to pick up where it left off.

Cloud Service Broker enhancements

In an effort to expand multi-cloud support for Tanzu Application Service, the VMware Tanzu Cloud Service Broker for Azure is now ready for production use. You can now begin to adopt or start migrating the new Tanzu Cloud Service Broker for Azure.
